Boys seem to be born with the need to play in a sandbox. In an effort to create something that would address this need in E & N's life, we have come up with "Bean Construction". It has become a HUGE favorite and has captivated their attention much longer than most things!

"Do you want to play bean construction with me?"

"Here's what you need: a bunch of construction equipment and a bag of pinto beans."

"Then just get to work - plowing, scooping, digging and moving the 'dirt'."

"Dad, you can use this tool to make a big pile." (plastic lid)

"Thanks for stopping by. I better get back to work!"

Carrie- You are such a creative Mom! I just get so encouraged and inspired by your ideas. I'm already mentally trying to locate all of the construction toys we've got to see if we can do the same thing. Thanks so much for posting all your antics!
What a great idea! I wish we had been able to play THIS game on Sunday afternoon, but it was so fun to see all the fireman stuff and play with the "accident" toys! We'll just have to do it again sometime! Andrea's right, you are such a creative mom!
Carrie, Carrie, Carrie...don't you have a TV for those little ones to watch? :-)
You rock!
Carrie, that looks like fun! And less messy then the rice I used... though that was fun too!
Great idea! I'm impressed at how well contained all those little beans seem to be. The carpet looks remarkably clean!
WARNING- when working with beans and children keep in mind they like to stuff the beans in their nose. We've had some "spouters" in the Moorhead Public School system. A "spouter" is defined as someone who has put a bean in their nose and it has begun to grow a tiny bean plant inside of their nasal passages. You will be able to identify this by a foul odor. Just in case...
Brent and Jennifer, Although I myself did not get to the sprouting stage, I did have a bean shoved up my nose by my brother, the Rev. Bradley Hoganson. Your warning is very appropriate.
I think you should use flour, not beans. That's what my mom does. In my house, with my 4 year old...when I'm not home. It's great.
